As I prepare for a busy 2014 to kick off on the work front (January has been a wonderfully quiet month with lots of time off), I have taken some time to ponder over last year.  2013 has been an unforgettable year.  Early in 2013 I gave birth to our third daughter, who is an absolute mini version of her Daddy and very relaxed about life.  I feel like the luckiest person alive at times.  The first of the photos below show my little family, taken by very good friend and talented photographer Helen who came over within days of the birth to capture these fleeting moments of life with a newborn.  If ever I need reminding of the value of our photography I just need to glance at these photos and I feel so grateful to have them.   On the work front, 2013 also started on a high, and with the complete surprise scooping the winner of he best wedding photographer in the South West in the Wedding Industry Awards.  It was so humbling knowing that this was mainly thanks to clients, their votes and feedback.  Thanks so much again to all of you, it meant so much to read through your comments and made all the hard work feel even more worthwhile.

I’m so happy to have been asked to capture the wedding days of some wonderful people and have made some very good friends along the way with a lot of laughs (you know who you are) and look forward very much to keeping in touch.  From beaches and boats, to barns and beloved tipis, there has been so much variety and sense of adventure.  One thing that I particularly love about my job is that each wedding or shoot is always such a contrast from the previous one and it pushes me to travel to places that I would never have known.

Big thanks go to the following people who really helped make such a fantastic year… Adrian (for your patience, love, tea in the morning and roast dinners), family (for the childcare and so many other things, too long to list out), my clients (for choosing me in the first place), Chloe (for second shooting so many weddings and editing help), Laura & Emma (for second shooting too), and also industry friends (for being so much fun and support).

I can’t wait to see what lies ahead in 2014, let’s hope it’s filled with health and happiness.  Here are some of my favourite wedding images from 2013…

Thanks so much for stopping by, I hope you enjoyed the round up of 2013?  Sarah X
